Samah Sharmin graduated from Penn with a degree in History and a minor in Chemistry. She joined the Penn and Slavery Project in Spring 2024, and her research explores the connection between the early medical school and Southern physician-enslavers, as well as racial medicine taught and practiced by Penn Medical graduates. Since graduating, she has continued to work with the Project to develop her research and update the Project website. As an aspiring physician, Samah hopes to use her research with the Project to contextualize her clinical practice and engage in conversations about the history of racial medicine with her peers.
