Amy Hillier (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor in Penn’s Schoo of Social Policy & Practice. Her research has focused on historical mortgage redlining, spatial health disparities, and, most recently, supporting families with transgender children. She is the faculty director for the Penn Experience course focused on the legacy of racism in Philadelphia and at Penn, and on building skills for recognizing and responding to various forms of oppression. She and her colleague, Dr. Stephanie Boddie, co-direct a research and teaching project about W.E.B. Du Bois’ 1899 classic, The Philadelphia Negro, that includes interactive mapping, a short documentary, walking tours, board game, and curriculum materials.
